I had a busy day today. First I went to the seventh annual National Coming Out Day Prayer Breakfast, organized by Eternal Joy MCC. The speaker this year was the Rev. Dr. John McNeill, a priest who got in trouble with the Roman Catholic hierarchy for ministering to gay people without also teaching that gay sex is wrong.

I didn't buy anything except for some food -- Click for larger versionClick for larger versiontwo shishkabobs, a spring roll, a fruit smoothie and a creme soda. The weather was great, and there were lots of interesting people to see.

Then I went to the annual Cross Creek Community Church fall festival. I took lots of pictures there, too many to organize right now. They will be posted on the church's web site in a few days, and I'm going to add some to my galleries here too.

I haven't updated my blog in two months. Bad blogger! My negligence is due partly to just plain laziness but also to my not having developed a smart way to update the prior entries listing easily without having to update each prior month's page's prior entries listing as well. I knew one way was to use JavaScript includes but I never got around to it. Well now I have. From now on, all I have to do is update the months.js file, and all the blog pages will display the new month.

To make up for not having updated for so long, I have lots of pictures from yesterday. Scroll down to yesterday's entry (which yes, I've created today, but tough) to see them.

My group from the DDRR Dayton-Kettering sessions (click to see a larger version) I've been co-facilitating another DDRR group for the past three weeks which wrapped up tonight. This group was one of four groups which consisted of people from the cities of Dayton and Kettering, including both cities' mayors, city commission members and people from various city offices. We met the first two weeks at the convention center downtown (walking distance for me) and then tonight at the National Composite Center, a facility in the Kettering Business Park (the old DESC).

Notice all the photographers Jennifer and Derek Todd and David, while we were all checking out Therapy Jimmy Lee and me Don and Dwight
There were interesting costumesJimmy and David Last night I went to Masquerage, an annual fundraiser for ARC Ohio. I went with my friends Jim and David, whose friends Tim and Todd rented a limo because it was Todd's 30th birthday. Our friend Jimmy Lee came along too. Derek and his sister Jennifer were there but didn't get to ride in the limo. There were lots of interesting costumes (and lots of, like mine, not so interesting costumes) and lots to drink and eat. After the fashion show, we hopped back into the limo (in which there was just a little nudity), stopped by Stage Door to get a drink and wait until it was a suitable hour, and left for Celebrity to cap off the evening.
I got to ride in a limoThere was some nudity in the limo (if you want to see the brown eye, you'll have to e-mail me to ask for it)We saw a stripper at CelebsJimmy and David

My grandfather and my great-uncle Today is old photo day. The photograph on the left is of my maternal grandfather and his twin brother, who were born in 1905. For as long as I could remember it hung in my grandparents' bedroom. My mother lent it to Wright State so they could scan it for their historical archives. They left it in the frame, glass and all, because apparently trying to unframe old photographs is a dangerous proposition.

A family whose old photo I found in a library book The other photo was a surprise. I'd checked out The Flying Nun (aka The Fifteenth Pelican) from the downtown library. (Why? On a whim since I'd seen in the credits of a Flying Nun episode on TV Land that the series was based on a book.) I had to request it from storage (which is easy to do over the web site -- they'll even have it waiting for you at the front desk to pick up). It was an original copy from 1965. Out of curiosity I pulled out the card from the back pocket and found this old photo. There's nothing written on it to indicate who the people are. I put it back so if by some coincidence you recognize them and want the photo, you can check out the book to get it.
